Vata Flow: A Practice to Support Seasonal Change (October 2025)

Vata Flow: A Practice to Support Seasonal Change

Wednesday, October 22nd 5:30-7:30PM

At Eden Yoga Shala, Bar Harbor (in-studio only/no virtual option)

After the pace of summer, the turn toward fall can be a welcome one. It invites us to slow down and to prepare ourselves for a more introspective season. The transition, however, can be a challenge. Sometimes instead of feeling grounded and calm, we feel scattered and unsteady much like the wind and falling leaves.

In the practice and science of Ayurveda, the doshas (or mind/body types) have a relation to the cycles of the natural world. The dosha of Vata is connected to the season of Fall and its qualities are of air, movement, and change.

This practice of active/engaging asanas (yoga postures) combined with more gentle asanas will be approached in a slow, mindful way to offer grounding and balancing for the energy of the Vata dosha. My hope is that this helps us to move from one season to the next with ease and vitality of both body and mind.

You can expect to move with some steadiness at times, but also to slow down at other times and really hone your attention. Class will also include pranayama, deep rest near the end, and a short closing meditation. Come reconnect to yourself, your yoga practice, and your commitment to nourishing you.

Recently I graduated from a 75 hour training with the Kripalu School of Yoga in this very subject of applying Ayurvedic wisdom to yoga and am looking forward to refining this practice that we enjoy seasonally.

Pre-registration is required to join in for this two hour, blissful re-set. This is an in-person/in-studio only event (no virtual option). The investment for the two hours is $35. You can go to the special events section of the web page to register or simply click HERE. If you prefer to pay by Venmo, cash, or check instead – please email me for payment and registration instructions.
