The benefits of twisting postures (asanas) in the practice of yoga include restoring range of motion of the spine; stimulating digestion; increasing circulation; relieving stiffness of the hips, shoulders and neck; and creating an overall refreshing feeling and one of greater space and freedom.
This practice will open with a brief discussion of the anatomy of the spine and how we approach twists — whether seated, standing, balancing or supine. This will primarily be experiential rather than discussion-based in nature, but questions are welcome throughout as we enjoy a full range of twisting asanas.
I will gear the practice toward the yogis who sign up. Once you register, please feel free to email me with questions you would like covered, or twisting poses you are interested in exploring.
Pre-registration is required for this practice.
This practice is not suitable for pregnant women or those with acute injuries of the spine. Please email me if you have questions on whether or not this workshop is for you.
